Woman dies in tractor crash

THE Health and Safety Executive is investigating the death of a 26-year-old woman from North Cadbury.

Kim Ann Webb of Cary Road died on Friday after a tractor toppled over in a field in the village.

Emergency services were called to Woolston Road on Friday morning to reports of Miss Webb suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was airlifted to Yeovil District Hospital, but later died.

Her family has described her as a dearly beloved daughter, sister, fiancee, granddaughter and friend, but did not want to comment further at this time.

HSE spokeswoman Nadia Nuaimi said: "We can confirm that we are investigating the incident with the police as it is a death which occurred at a place of work.

"We have a role to look at it and the HSE can take legal action on grounds of health and safety legislation.

"The police can look at manslaughter charges and both can be dealt with by the Crown Prosecution Service."

A police spokesman said: "We were called to a field near Horseshoe cottage on Woolston Road, North Cadbury, at 10.45am on Friday 26 June.

"A 26-year-old woman had suffered from life-threatening injuries after a tractor had turned over.

"The air ambulance was called and we were informed that she had died on Monday morning. The Health and Safety Executive and Coroner have been informed."

An inquest into Miss Webb's death has been opened and a funeral service is to be held at St Michael the Archangel Church, North Cadbury, on Monday at 3pm.

The family have asked for flowers or donations to Cancer Research UK or Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Trust. They can be left through funeral director Harold. F. Miles, South Cadbury, BA22 7ES.
