Jobs of the future don't exist yet

"The job you are likely to do in the future has not been invented yet," warned guest speaker, Andrew Reynolds at The Blandford School's presentation evening.

Ex-student Andrew Reynolds returned to The Blandford School last week to present awards and provide the main speech at the annual presentation Evening. Andrew enthralled the audience with his account of how he rose through the ranks at IBM and then became head-hunted to become portfolio executive for social media at BBC Vision. He advised students to follow the subjects that they enjoyed and were passionate about. Regarding careers, he told students that he had not envisaged working in his present role when he was at school, because that job did not even exist then. Likewise he warned students that the jobs that they might be doing in the future may not have even been invented yet.

In his speech, deputy headteacher, Andrew Mead commended the hard work of the staff and students and congratulated Tom Burlton and Tom Wills who had both been successful in gaining places at Cambridge Univeristy; Tom Burlton to read Land Economy at St Catherine's and Tom Wills to read History at Emanuelle College.

The audience enjoyed excerpts from the school's forthcoming production of the popular musical 'Grease', items by the Flute Choir,Vocal group and the up and coming Year 11 rock band, 'Feedback'.
