Beware of conmen

DORSET police has issued a warning to residents after suspected conmen claiming to be acting on behalf of Sky Television targeted two households.

Police say that the callers have been contacting residents by phone and letter offering satellite system insurance and asking for bank details.

Residents who fell for the ploy have had money taken from their accounts but have not had insurance policies set up. Police say that the contact details provided are bogus and do not exist.

Police are now warning local people to check the identity of callers before entering into any agreement.
