Six walkers had to be rescued by a lifeboat after they became cut off by the tide at Lyme Regis.

The group, including an eight-year-old child, was forced to call out the emergency services yesterday evening when they could not get back due to the rising water levels.

Lyme Coastguard Rescue Officers could not reach them before darkness so the lifeboat was sent instead.

It was met at Lyme Regis harbour where coastguards gave the party advice about the need to check tide times before setting out.
