THE SUMMER might be over - but Dorset is still buzzing with plenty of events taking place this weekend.

1) Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival

Cheese lovers will flock to Sturminster Newton this weekend with over 60 traditional food stalls and dozens of craft stalls on offer.
Visitors can sample delicious cheeses and enjoy real ale and ciders - along with live music and entertainment.
The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 5pm. Tickets cost £5 and entry is free of charge for under 15s.
2) World Garlic Eating Competition, Bridport
The first annual World Garlic Eating competition will take place in west Dorset on Saturday. The clove-munching competition will take place at 4pm at The George Inn, Bridport - with proceeds going to the Weldmar Hospice and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Entry costs £5.
3) Wessex Food Festival, Weymouth
After lasy year's Wessex Food Festival attracted over 2,000 visitors, the even is moving to Weymouth College - taking part on Saturday between 10am and 4pm.
With the best food and drink from the region on offer, there will also be live demonstrations, cookery workshops and live music.
4) Alistair McGowan at the Tivoli, Wimborne
Renowned comedian and impressionist Alistair McGowan will bring his two-hour show to the Tivoli Theatre on Friday night.
Tickets are £16 with the performance starting at 8pm.
5) Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at Christchurch Priory
The world famous Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra are putting on a special performance at the beautiful Christchurch Priory on Saturday.
Tickets are available from Christchurch information Centre, with the performance starting at 7:30pm.
6) Milling Weekend, Sturminster Newton
Stur has more to offer this weekend than the Cheese Festival. The traditional mill is holding a special weekend - where visitors can learn about the operation of the Mill and explore the building.
The Mill is open from 11am until 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday - with produce also on offer.
7) National Catamaran Championships
The Hurricane Catamaran Championships begin this weekend at the National Sailing Academy in Portland.
taking place on the 2012 Olympic sailing course, there will be plenty of action over four days for sailing fans.
8) Eggardon Kite Festival
The famous Eggardon Kite Festival returns to the iron age hill fort on Sunday. The event takes place between 10:30am and 4:30pm - with free parking, food stalls and a bar.
Money is being raised for local charities including Powerstock Hut and the Weldmar Hospicecar Trust.
9) Waterloo Show and Military Fair
Money is being raised for bereaved military families on Sunday at the Shaftesbury Estate near Cranborne.
Visitors can enjoy a special display area along with children's activities and a tattoo. The event takes place between 9am and 6pm.
10) Purbeck Marathon
The second Purbeck Marathon will take place on Sunday across rural south Dorset.
Based in Swanage, why not cheer on the competitors - with the event starting at 9:30am.
