TEN Normandy veterans were presented with 65th anniversary medal bars at the Priest's House Museum in Wimborne.

The presentation, organised by Alan Dean, a Royal British Legion Remembrance co-ordinator, was for those who were unable to attend the services held in Normandy in June.

The 10 servicemen, representing all three armed forces, were presented with their medal bars by Vice Lord Lieutenant of Dorset James Gibson Fleming.

He said: "Thank you to all the veterans. This is the third presentation in Dorset - one in Poole, one in Dorchester and now one in Wimborne. Over 130 veterans from the D-Day and Battle of Normandy campaign have been decorated in addition to others in France. The badge was created by the French MOD, so we can thank Normandy for producing the badge. It is fantastic to see you all here and for all your effort in the 1940s and since."

Afterwards, all those gathered were treated to cream tea in the garden.
