RECORD RISE IN PASSENGERS: Swanage Railway volunteers are celebrating a record rise in passenger numbers on the relaid Purbeck Line – and are running more trains because of increased demand. Between February and May the number of people travelling between Norden park and ride, Corfe Castle (pictured), Harman’s Cross, Herston and Swanage increased by 34 per cent on the same period during 2008 – almost 30,000 people riding the steam trains in April and just over 26,000 people in May.
