Behind the scenes at The Exchange
HELLO readers! Just to quickly introduce myself... my name is Sean, and I am the young man that you may have seen sitting behind the desk of The Exchange. Since graduating from university, I have taken a marketing and sales role here, so it is my job to make sure you know about all the great things that we have to offer.
I am also on my own personal mission, which stems from a conversation I had with one of the many hard-working volunteers who make The Exchange possible. This volunteer was explaining to me that when the idea of The Exchange was originally conceived, it was not being built for them, but rather for the next generation, the young people of our community. My aim then is to carry on the great work that has been done before to try and encourage the younger generations to make full use of The Exchange and its excellent facilities.
Since working here, I have noticed more and more just how much of a central role The Exchange has in our community. This was highlighted to me on Wednesday 14th November when we played host to the SturQuest Community Coffee morning. This was a great chance for local business and society's to meet and network with each other. A lot of these groups already hold weekly or monthly activities at The Exchange, but due to the different timings never actually get to meet, so this really was an opportunity for everybody to come together. Here is a list of some of those groups who both supported the SturQuest Community Coffee morning event, and use The Exchange on a regular basis:

Programme of events
The Exchange also has, of course, a mouth-watering programme of events for you to see out the year. This includes a celebration of the festive season, when the pantomime The Magic of Christmas comes to town on Sunday 9th December. The next instalment of our Classical Series is only a couple of days later, as Red Priest will be delighting your ears on the Saturday 15th December. Then, as we say adios for another year, The New Scorpion Band will be playing you into the Christmas holidays on the 22nd December with a fabulous Christmas Party.
But if you thought 2012 was a great year for events, watch out for 2013, as we have some truly sensational shows lined up for you. This includes the return of Britain's finest jazz musician, Courtney Pine. Coming to us on the 8th February 2013 on the House of Legends tour, his new album has been described as 'an exceptional labour of love' by The Evening Standard, as well as receiving many more raving reviews. This really will be a night to savour, so make sure you book your tickets fast! 2013 also brings with it the talented acoustic trio The Martin Harley Band on the 16th March, as well as the return of the hilarious Richard Digance on 3rd May, plus many more wonderful acts.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you at one of our events soon.
