Now the public are being encouraged to make sure their voices are heard by Friday 22 February. After this date, detailed plans will be drawn up. The public will then have the opportunity to view these drawings and give any feedback before they are submitted to the council at the end of March.

The new 2000m2 Jigsaw Building will be situated at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital between the Eye Unit and the Derwent Suite for Orthopaedics, and will bring together oncology, haematology, gynaecology, breast care and early pregnancy.

It will provide more space for rapidly expanding outpatient and day case treatments and will ensure better privacy and dignity for patients.

Feedback received so far includes requests for Wi-Fi, quiet rooms, counselling rooms and artwork in the building. Outdoor space and good car parking provision have also been highlighted as important elements of the plans.

David Rumbold, Project Manager for the Trust, said: "The event we had on Tuesday was very useful. We're keen to keep this momentum, reach a consensus on the layout and welcome more comments."

If you have any comments about the important features you want to see in the design – including a colour scheme for the unit - please email jigsaw.appeal@rbch.nhs.uk or log on to www.jigsawappeal.org.uk to find out more.

You can also complete a survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/jigsawbuilding or fill in a feedback form available at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
