Beaminster pupils hit the prom

BEAMINSTER School pupils pulled out all the stops to arrive in style for their year-11 prom at Haselbury Mill, near Crewkerne, on Friday.

Their modes of transport included an ice cream van, a tractor and trailer, a mini-motorbike, a horse and carriage, several classic motors and a sports car.

The glitzy event was a well-deserved reward after the youngsters completed their GCSE examinations.

A disco belted out tunes so the 120 pupils and staff could dance into the evening before dispersing to post-prom parties.

Upper school head Ian Randall said: "It was a fantastic evening and it was superb. We had some nice arrivals in some interesting vehicles and all the youngsters had a two-course meal.

"This is a celebration for them getting to the end of their GCSEs and they have worked very hard. They have been a responsible year group all the way through."
