An unusual folly on the Dorset coast has been voted the nation’s favourite heritage restoration scheme.

The Victorian Durlston Castle, near Swanage, won the public vote in the annual National Lottery Awards. It was refurbished in a lottery-funded project in 2011.

The folly was built between 1887 and 1891 as a restaurant by a local entrepreneur.
