Following a police investigation, officers were able to arrest four people on suspicion or arson and theft from motor vehicles.

Weymouth and Portland Inspector Les Fry said: "We are determined to stop the people responsible.

"We are working hard, using a wide range of resources and tactics to catch these offenders."

A 41-year-old man, a 19-year-old man, a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy - all from Weymouth remain in police custody and are helping police with their enquiries.

Sergeant Steve Yeoman of the Littlemoor Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) said: "It is unusual to have this number of incidents in Littlemoor and I believe the community is suffering at the hands of a few individuals and we will not tolerate this.

"The Littlemoor SNT is working closely with partner agencies to address this issue.

"I am pleased to note that the Littlemoor community is rallying together and I continue to urge anyone with information to contact us on 101 and use Crimestoppers."
