BLANDFORD Yuletide Festival 2012 will be held in the town on Wednesday 12th December.

Hall and Woodhouse are the main sponsors of the evening which takes place in the roads surrounding the Market Place from 6pm to 9pm on the iconic date of 12-12-12.

As in previous years, there will be a road closure in the town from 4pm to 10pm.

The first Blandford Yuletide Festival was held in December 2010 and was followed by an equally successful community-based event in 2011, featuring a lantern procession by the Primary Schools of the Blandford Network, led by the Shaftesbury Band and the Stour Valley Brass Band, communal carol singing, late night shopping, markets, fairground rides and street displays, concluding with a firework display. The festival organisers are planning the event for this December and have announced that they are anticipating an additional Italian Market as well as local stall holders for this year.

Fireworks for the 2012 event are being organised by Firework Solutions, a commercial company based in Wimborne, and the organisers are working closely with North Dorset District Council staff to ensure the highest levels of safety are maintained throughout the Festival.

Chairman of the BYF Group, Tim Storey said "The last two festivals have been simply amazing with a fantastic response from the community and we are already working hard to make the 2012 event bigger and better."

Chairman of Hall and Woodhouse, Mark Woodhouse, said "We are pleased to be able to support the Yuletide Festival again in 2012 and are looking forward to being a part of another enjoyable and exciting evening."
