The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice as Dorset wakes up to a frosty morning.
Sleet and snow could affect northern parts of the county, with the cold snap expected to last throughout the week.
A level three severe weather action for cold weather has also been issued by the Met Office, only one level below a national emergency.
Andy Page, Met Office Chief Forecaster said: "We expect rain, sleet and snow to affect many parts of the UK over the next day or so, with eastern areas of Britain seeing the most snowfall.
