LAST Friday, despite the snow, Yarrells was open for all those pupils who were able to come to school. Eager children aged three-12 gathered in the school library for a spirited 'sing-song' led by the headmistress, Mrs Charlotte Oosthuizen. Following this, they donned hats, gloves, coats and boots for capers in the snow! The lively group returned to hot chocolate, lessons, a hearty lunch and an afternoon of stories, science and other studies.

Mrs Oosthuizen was very pleased to keep the school open and commented: "Learning has been enhanced, not only by the unexpected experiences afforded by the weather, but also by the many activities arranged by the staff to contribute to a worthwhile day at school."
