Woman in critical condition after fall from railway bridge in Bournemouth

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman fell off a bridge onto a railway line.

At around 10am this morning, officers received a report that a woman had fallen onto the track at Pokesdown Railway Station in Bournemouth.

The 20-year-old woman from Bournemouth sustained injuries from the impact of the fall and was taken to Southampton Hospital where she is still in a critical condition.

A 25-year-old Hampshire man was arrested, and continues to be questioned by police.

The exact cause of the incident is still being investigated by police. Both northbound and southbound lines were temporarily closed, but have since been re-opened.
