Wincanton edge it in glut of goals
Wincanton Town 5, Calne Town 4
IT was an entertaining game at Moor Lane but not a day for the defensive coaches.
Wincanton applied the early pressure and inside 10 minutes were a goal up through Matt Peters after having struck the woodwork twice. Peters got his second two and Matt Chant made it 3-0 but just before the break Glen Armstrong pulled one back to make the half time score 3-1.
Five minutes into the restart Calne pulled the scores back level at 3-3 through Armstrong and a deflected free-kick from Danny Baker but straight from the kick off Keiran Davis rounded the Calne full-back to regain the lead.

Chant got his second to make it 5-3 but Calne were not finished and Armstrong completed his hat-trick. They could have equalised in the dying minutes when Tom Hatcher cleared off the line following a goalmouth scramble.
On Tuesday 15th October, kick-off 7.30pm, Yeovil Town will send a team to help Wincanton celebrate the switch-on of their new floodlights at Moor Lane. Gary Johnson may well send a strong squad as this fixture will coincide with an international break.
