Supermarine 7pts, Wimborne 106

MAKING their first-ever visit to Swindon to play Supermarine, Wimborne continued their recent run of Southern Counties South successes with a 16-try victory over their outclassed hosts.

With the stiff breeze at their backs Wimborne took an early lead when Matt Warwick was driven over in a rolling maul. Six more tries followed before half-time, from Scott Maidment (2), Tom Moysey, Steve King, Andy Unwin and Richard Brokenshire. Tom Moysey converted all seven to give the visitors a 49-point interval

At the start of the second-alf replacement scrum-alf Alex Priest was up in support of Scott Maidment, who gathered his own kick ahead, to receive the return pass and score a try which Moysey converted.

Supermarine did not let their heads drop and it was 20 minutes before the next try came, courtesy of a trademark run by Russell Tinsdale. Another try followed shortly afterwards from a long run by Moysey, who added the extras himself.

Supermarine kept fighting and were rewarded when a kick ahead was well picked up for a converted try. This setback seemed to spur Wimborne and in the final 15 minutes further tries from Scott Maidment (2), Steve King, Jimmy Brokenshire, Alex Priest and Tom Moysey and four conversions by Moysey rounded off the scoring.
