Turner swindled the 90-year-old out of £30 - her daily allowance left to her by her daughter. He was caught in the act on CCTV, which had been installed by Dorset Police.

Detective Sergeant Mark Jenkins of Bournemouth and Poole CID said: "This was a callous crime preying on a victim's vulnerability.

"Thanks to the vigilance of her family the police were able to take proactive steps to catch the offender.

"The sentence reflects that Dorset police and the courts will deal with these types of offences very stringently."
