Wheels in motion for cancer charity
BOSCOMBE and Southbourne Rotary Club have organised a sponsored cycle ride, extended to all members of the public, to raise money for Macmillan Caring Locally, the local charity that supports the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital.
The first ever Sponsored Cycle Ride organised by Boscombe and Southbourne Rotary Club will be held at Hengistbury Head this month and is set to see cyclists of every ability from professional to amateur take part. The Rotary Club have been working in and with the community for many years, and have always looked for new ways to raise money to benefit those who need it most.
Participants in the Cycle Ride will be gathering at Hengistbury Head Solent Beach car park where they will be entitled to a free bicycle test, courtesy of Halfords, working with the Rotary Club, to ensure the safety of all of those riding bicycles and taking part. Cyclists will be offered various distances at which they can challenge themselves, from a 6k cycle, all the way through to a 24k cycle, making the event open to people of all abilities and ages.
Neal Williams, of Macmillan Caring Locally, said: “We are delighted to be associated with this fantastic fundraising initiative - the first of its kind for our charity and we are excited to see how it turns out. We hope that many avid cyclists and families choose to take part and enjoy the wonderful views that our coastline has to offer.”
