Sturminster Newton short act of remembrance at the war memorial at 11am. All welcome.

Saturday: Antiques Fair in the Digby Hall 9am-4pm. Original Market and car boot in Sturminster Newton RBL 8am-noon. Blackmore Vale Scribes meet in Bradford Abbas Village Hall 2-5pm for a follow up to Marion's Workshop.

Tuesday 13th: Julian Richards gives an illustrated talk to Shaftesbury and District Archaeological Group, 7.30pm St Peter's Hall on Gold Hill. "An Hour with Icons" led by Fr Clive Lee of Westminster Diocese 2.30pm in the Sacred Heart Church, Tisbury. Shaftesbury and District 50+ Group welcomes local author Fay Weldon to talk about her life as an author 10am RBL Hall in Coppice Street. RSPB SW Local Group guest this evening is Neil Gartshore on "The Birds of Poole Harbour", 7.30pm Salisbury Arts Centre.

Wednesday 14th: Shaftesbury Evening WI meets in the United Reformed Church, speaker Dave Wathen the Gillingham town crier. Dorset Natural History and Archaeological Society welcomes Dr Darren Naish of Southampton University whose subject is "Necks for Sex? No Thank You, We're Sauropod Dinosaurs". Roger Snook gives a talk on "The History of Headgear" to Charlton Down Local History Group in the village hall 7.30pm. AGM of the Shaftesbury & Gillingham Home Watch Ass, 7.30pm Shaftesbury Town Hall: guest speaker James Vaughan, Dorset's Assistant Chief Constable. Gillingham Gardening Society meets in the RBL Hall 2.30pm: Geoff Hobson on "Bonsai Basics". Blackmore Vale Group of the Somerset & Dorset Family History Society meets in Sturminster Newton's Exchange 7.30pm: Bonny Sartin on "Up in Arms".

Thursday 15th: Sherborne Palestine Support Group presents a talk by Leah Levane "Protect the Bedouins", 7.30pm Cheap Street Church Hall.

Friday 16th: Gillingham Country Market 8.30-11.30am Methodist Church Hall. Annual Poyntington Lecture in the Gryphon Conference Centre, Sherborne 7 for 7.30pm: Lady Antonia Fraser in conversation with Jonathan Heawood: tickets from Winstone's book shop in Cheap Street, 01963 220759 or 220637.
