Verwood Mayor's blindfold walkabout
THE Mayor of Verwood, Councillor Simon Gibson, has been finding out for himself what it is like to be without sight.
He was led blindfolded round Verwood town centre to support Lions Club World Sight Day. Simon was joined by the mayor's escort Sue Mayling, Mayor's Guide Lauren Coleman, and friend Katt Ground. All were ably assisted around the town by members of Wimborne and Ferndown Lions Club who also set up a stall on Ferrett Green to hand out information about the good cause that they are involved in. The Mayor, who was guided by Lion Ken Taylor, said: "It was a very surreal experience, even though I knew the route that we walked very well, it is totally different when you can't see where you are going. The work that the Lions Club do for this every year is excellent and even though it was difficult, I was very glad to get the chance to help raise awareness for their campaign."
