Upton Country Park receives NGS award

UPTON Country Park will be one of just a few gardens in Dorset to receive a special award as part the National Garden Scheme's 85th anniversary celebrations.

When the scheme began in 1927, the Upton House estate, then owned by the Llewellin family, was one of the first to open to the public and help raise money for charity.

To celebrate the anniversary, Upton Country Park has rejoined the National Garden Scheme for 2012 and in recognition has received a commemorative plaque that includes a reproduction of a 1927 shilling along with a message of thanks.
