Tom storms to triathlon triumph
IN perfect racing conditions, the Oxley Sherborne Sprint Triathlon on Sunday was won by Tom Scott from Milborne Port, in a total time of 1hr 22:13. The race for the ladies' title was won by Kerri-Ann Upham from Honiton.
The event, held at the Oxley Sports Centre in Sherborne, and organised by the Wessex Wizards Triathlon Club, is now in its fifth year and has become one of the most popular and respected races in the south-west.
A total of 107 participants took the start, with a 400m swim, followed by a 30km bike ride and a 5km run.
In a very close fought race, the top seven in the men's race were separated by just over one minute. Second was Andrew Jones, from Cheltenham, with Chris Burton of Yeovil finishing third.

Runner-up in the ladies' race was Helen Wainwright, of Merriott, Team TriUK, with Sarah Window, Somerset RC Tri from Taunton, finishing third.
The format also rewards the quickest in Age Categories: Junior Female: Ellie Green, Wessex Wizards; Male 20-29: Lawrence Kidd, Exeter Tri Club; Female 30-39: Shelley Norton, Sherborne; Female 40-49: Helen Wainwright, TriUK, Merriott; Male 40-49: Chris Burton, Yeovil; Female 40-49: Sue Bidgood, Taunton; Male 50-59: Vincent Hounsome, Wheels of Dorset, Gillingham; Male 60+: Andrew Berry, North Dorset Tri Club.
