TORRENTIAL rain meant Sturminster Newton children's carnival procession had to be held in The Exchange on Saturday afternoon.

The Olympics were a popular choice for several of the entries with others making good use of battery-operated lights on some stunning costumes.

Dorset Youth Marching Band led the winning entries on a circuit through the Exchange building before the carnival queen, princess and attendants presented the trophies.
