Shiver me timbers – let's have some ice cream
PURBECK Ice Cream, the Taste of Dorset overall dairy award-winner for 2010, held the firm's annual sports day to coincide with the International Talk like a Pirate Day for the second year running.
The scurvy crew came to work dressed as pirates and worked like dogs until the skull & crossbones flag was hoisted, the grog was poured and the sports events began.
There was welly wanging (sales director Patrick threw his white welly to victory with a hefty 23 paces through the apple trees – luckily missing them all), a three-legged race, cream-lid frisbee hurling, the sugar sack race and the face plant finish.
The production team of Sandy, Roz, Andrew, Jackie and Paul triumphed in the 'bin the tub from opposing boats' throwing tubs in a hale and hearty fashion and the finale saw another victory for Paul the Parrott in the choc chunk and scoop race.
This year Yve dressed in a marine blue mermaid costume complete with tail and, although she resorted to wearing a full freezer suit to combat the cold, she looked magnificent and won best-dressed title.
