Sherborne couple who met at 70s club night to launch new singles night
A SHERBORNE couple who met during a themed club night are hoping to help others find love with their new singles night launching next month.
Matt and Lynne Trulocke, both 50, the new owners of The Arch, in Swan Yard, will host Sherborne Singles, a new, monthly event which gives single people over the age of 20 a chance to socialise together.
The couple met in a 70s club in Soho 20 years ago and have been together ever since.
Mrs Trulocke said: “We were both dressed to kill in 70s get-up when we met, as was everybody else, and it was great fun.

“And 20 years later we’re still having fun.
“We didn’t start dating until a couple of months after we met but we hung out with each other’s friends which meant lots more fun nights out.”
Mr Trulocke said the couple quickly became business partners.
He said: “We had so many common interests we started working together pretty much since the day we started going out, first in Soho and now at the White Hart and the Arch in Sherborne.”
The events will be free to enter and will take place on the third Wednesday of every month, starting in March.
Mrs Trulocke said the whole idea is to offer a fun, relaxed and informal environment in which singles can socialise.
She said: “You can get lasting love from a brief encounter and we are living proof of this.
“Just let your inhibitions down for a night in a safe environment and see what happens.
“Even if you don’t meet the love of your life you will make friends and have fun.”
Mr and Mrs Trulocke said they are considering making one of the nights a themed event with DJs and dressing up.
They said: “It worked for us and can for anyone.”
Organiser Antonia Burt, a freelance promotions consultant for Beauhemia, is looking forward to launching the event.
She said: “I saw a gap in the market when a single friend suggested the idea.
“I have been working on a series of Wednesday night events for The Arch and Sherborne Singles fitted perfectly.”
The first event takes place on Wednesday, March 20, at The Arch, from 7pm until 11pm.
