Sherborne Festive Shopping Day will be 'better than ever'
Organisers have vowed that the Sherborne Festive Shopping Day will be “bigger and better” than ever – despite concerns that a six-week road closure could stifle business in the run-up to Christmas.
Trendle Street closed to traffic on Monday from Lower Acreman Street to the Half Moon Street junction until Sunday, December 16, while roof repairs are carried out to Chapter House Book Shop.

She said: “We are always trying to make it bigger and better than the last time.
“All the market stalls are going to move into the road; everybody is co-operating so there will be no difficulties making it as successful an event as ever.”
The event on Sunday, December 2, will feature Olympic gold medallist Peter Wilson as well as the cast of the Octagon Theatre’s pantomime Aladdin.
Martin Walsh, of the Abbey Friar chip shop on Westbury, also said he was confident business would remain successful.
But Hannah Wilkins, of Vineyards on Digby Road, said it was very noticeable that there were less people shopping in town this week.
