Second birthday celebrations for Felicity's farm shop
AN unprepossessing former garage has become an Aladdin's Cave of Dorset food and drink.
And next weekend Felicity Perkin, her sister Penny and her son Tom will be celebrating the second anniversary of Felicity's Farm Shop, surrounded by many of the local producers whose wares they showcase.

Amanda Streatfeild of Denhay (left), chairman of Bridport Food Festival, was a special guest with her husband George - newly named the Joint Cheeseperson of the Year - at the Screen Bites Food Film Festival event at Broadwindsor last week. As part of their second birthday celebrations, Felicity's Farm Shop gave a hamper as a draw prize and the lucky winner was local resident Brenda Ash. GPW picture
Felicity and her family lived in Stourton Caundle for some years. She worked as a nurse practitioners at the doctors surgery in Charmouth for some years, then ran the Dorset Garden Party business and in November 2010 - at a time of recession when recession was biting deep into the national economy, they took the plunge and opened their shop in the old garage on the A35 at the eastern end of Morcombelake.
The shop, stocking fresh produce, local meat, locally brewed beers, garden items, gifts and much more, plus a cafe serving freshly prepared food and home-made cakes, has gone from strength to strength and this year was a finalist in the BVM's Taste of Dorset Best Independent Food Shop class.

Next weekend, 10th-11th November, there will be a second anniversary celebration, with many of the regular producers whose goods are stocked there to meet customers and offer tastings. They include Art Brew (micro brewery in North Chideock), Capreolus fine foods, Dorset Farms, Dorset Nectar, Mamma Bonbons chocolate, Pinks Organics, Mighty Hop Brewery, UK eco-logs and Bunnies Love.
The local meat stocked at the shop includes Clive Sage's Wyld Meadow Lamb and Bellair Haye Pork, farmed by Felicity's son Tom Summers on land originally belonging to her parents and left to her brother in nearby Whitchurch Canonicorum. He started with four Gloucester Old spots last year and now has approximately 100 free range animals. He specialises in Gloucester Old Spots and British Lops, but there are also Tamworths, Saddlebacks and some Oxford Sandy and Blacks.
