Tonight (Friday), Adam Piggott and Jayne Freeman play at the Cat Cafe in Wincanton. Combining powerful acoustic guitar and ukulele with inspired melodies in the folk, pop and Americana tradition. On Friday 7th December Appalachia play a perfect blend of acoustic instruments, voices and musical styles. The Johnsons' Christmas Party takes place at The George in Castle Cary from 9pm on Thursday 6th December. Admission free. The Johnsons are Somerset's finest eight-piece roots country band. They'll be performing everything from the cautionary anti-psychedelic classic LSD (Made a Wreck of Me) to souped-up gospel floor-stompers and, because it's Christmas, a potpourri of Elvis numbers (the less cheesy ones – mainly). Dancing guaranteed.

Calling all Mustang Sally fans - they'll be playing at the Red Lion in Gillingham on Friday 7th December.
Highly acclaimed singer songwriters Rob Halligan and Gareth Davies-Jones return to Charlton on Friday 7th December for a fund raising concert in aid of St John's Church. They will be performing a candlelit acoustic show at the church in a repeat of a successful appearance at the same time last year. The pre-Christmas gig in the intimate surroundings of St John's will highlight new songs from both Rob and Gareth. Rob's song-writing reflects events in his life from his experiences living on the streets to losing his father in the terrorist events of 9/11. Rob has toured as a solo artist across the UK and has played in America, Canada, Hong Kong and Europe. He also sings with 1980s hit makers After The Fire. Professional since 2003, Irish-born Gareth has demonstrated an honesty, depth and passion with his beautifully arranged, evocative and challenging songs. Live music returns to The Queens Head in Milborne Port on Saturday 8th December, with Quicksilver, who will be performing a set of classic rock covers, including new material from Ocean Colour Scene, Dire Straits and Coldplay. The two hour plus set will start at 8.30pm.
Wimborne St Giles Village Hall hosts a Charity Acoustic Music Concert on Saturday 8th December from 7.30pm. The line-up includes Rod Jenkins and Black Tulip, Ninebarrow, Take Thackray and Bob Whitley (MC). In aid of Julia's House, it will be an evening of varied acoustic music with contemporary songs, Americana, traditional folk music, fantastic harmonies and humour.
