Luckily, the girl was able to shrug off the offender and run away - and was not injured as a result.

Detective Inspector James Batty of Poole CID said: "This has been very upsetting for the young victim, and she has been left extremely scared.

"The motives of the offender are not known at this time.

"He is described as a white man aged between 20 and 40, around five feet five inches tall with light brown coloured stubble, and wearing a hooded top.

"I would ask witnesses and anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they might be able to assist with the investigation."

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 12:245.
