Poole concerned about rough sleepers
BOROUGH of Poole is urging anyone concerned about people sleeping rough to contact the national initiative Streetlink.
Although rough sleeping is not a big problem in Poole, it is always a concern to see people sleeping rough, especially in cold weather. Contacting Streetlink on 0300 5000914 ensures that the council can offer their services to people who might need them.
Borough of Poole has commissioned an assertive outreach service providing rough sleepers with support, advice and encouragement to return into accommodation. This runs throughout the week and offers both a drop in service and actively seeks out people sleeping rough to engage with them on the streets. The team works very hard to engage with those sleeping rough and try to tackle any issues and barriers that might stop them from returning to accommodation.
Councillor Elaine Atkinson, Leader of the Council, Borough of Poole, said: "We take the hardship faced by rough sleepers, particularly during the cold weather, very seriously and have a dedicated provision in place to help provide support and shelter where ever possible. We would encourage people who are concerned about anyone sleeping rough to contact Streetlink on 0300 5000914 so that we can at least offer people the right help."
