Poole RNLI Lifeboat Station the busiest in the South West
ONCE again Poole RNLI lifeboat station was the busiest RNLI lifeboat station in the South West with 109 launches.
Jonathan Clark Poole's volunteer coxswain for the last 15 years said: "Despite the second wettest summer on record, the waters and reaches around Poole harbour and Poole bay are as busy as ever. Although the future of our station is uncertain, the crew is as dedicated as ever. We would like to thank all our employers and families for their continued support. Also we gratefully acknowledge the Poole lifeboat fundraisers and people of Poole who raise the funds and donate the money to enable us to continue our volunteer work."
Poole lifeboat station was one of the first in the RNLI South Division to receive the new design of RNLI lifejackets; these were funded predominately by local people through the 2012 SOS events and shoppers and staff at Poole Sainsbuy's Pitwines. The store named Poole lifeboat their charity of the year and raised over £5000 to provide the funds for this vital equipment for the volunteer crew.
