Poole lifeboat station was one of the first in the RNLI South Division to receive the new  design of RNLI  lifejackets; these were funded predominately by local people through the 2012 SOS events and shoppers and staff at Poole Sainsbuy's Pitwines. The store named Poole lifeboat their charity of the year and raised over £5000 to provide the funds for this vital equipment for the volunteer crew.

SOS Day – the RNLI's biggest annual fundraising day is this Friday 25th January when there will be lots of events in and around Poole. The Poole crew will also be hosting a Scoff Our Scones coffee morning at the Poole Lifeboat station on the Quay by the lifting bridge this Saturday 26th January from 10am till noon. Everyone is invited.

In Dorset overall the RNLI dealt with 2,168 incidents, assisted 2,347 and saved five lives.
