Poole Pirates: Supporting members need to match front runners

Poole Pirates boss Matt Ford is looking for his supporting cast to match the front runners as his side look to consolidate their place at the top of the Elite League.

The reigning champions face The Eastbourne Eagles tonight in their penultimate home meeting of the season. Ford is expecting his side to protect their unbeaten Elite League record at Wimborne Road.

"Our top three - Chris Holder, Darcy Ward and Krzysztof Kasprzak - have been faultless all season and we all saw on Friday night when one of the supporting members of the team pops up lie Ludvig Lindgren did at Lakeside, then it makes a huge difference.

"We are still seeing too much inconsistency among the lower order. they all know they can do better and there is no better opportunity than now."

Piotr Pawlicki will be making his debut this evening for The Pirates as he comes into the roster to replace the injured Dennis Andersson.

"Piotr comes in with a big role to play. He was keen to join us and he is a talented rider as we saw in the World Under-21 round last year" added Ford.

"Being in the main body of the team could be a bit tougher for him but I am hoping he can quickly find his best form."

Eastbourne are currently sat in third place in the Elite League and are desperate for a playoff qualification. Following a defeat against Belle Vue on Monday, The Eagles will be eager to get some points, having completed all of their home meetings.
