Police investigating Weymouth car park fire issue witness appeal
Police investigating a fire that destroyed several vehicles and damaged property in a Weymouth car park are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Dorset Police believe the blaze at Chelwood Gate car park, off Chickerell Road, was started deliberately at around 2am on Sunday morning.

The fire destroyed three caravans, a car and a camper van before spreading and causing damage to fencing, garages and sheds in nearby properties.

“Thanks to the prompt attendance of Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, further damage was prevented and thankfully no-one has been hurt.”
Officers now want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the blaze, or who has any information about the incident.
DC Lawrence added: “I am particularly interested in speaking to two women who were seen in the area at that time who may have witnessed what happened.”
