"Enquiries have revealed that the men were not court bailiffs or acting on behalf of debt collecting agencies. I am now in a position to release an e-fit of one of the offenders. If anyone recognises this man please contact Dorset Police urgently.

"I strongly advise the public to always ask to see official identification from strangers that come to the door. If there are any concerns please check with family, friends and neighbours or call the police.

"I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, seen something suspicious or has any information that can identify those responsible, to call Dorset Police in the strictest confidence."

The first offender, pictured in the e-fit, is desbribed as a white man, approximately five feet six inches tall, aged between 45 and 55, of heavy build with receding hair. The man spoke with an accent which was possibly Scottish or Irish, and was wearing jeans and a black t-shirt.

The second man is described as white, aged between 45 and 55, of heavy build with dark brown short hair. He was also wearing jeans and a black t-shirt.
