Why Parking Your Car Half On The Pavement And Half On The Road Is Inconsiderate And Stupid.
After reading about Ringwood Town Council taking a hard line with motorists who park their cars half on and half off the pavement in Southampton Road, I can't help wondering why so many drivers still get away with it.
I have to be truthful and say it never used to bother me and I'd admit I used to do it myself now and then, but since I've become a dad people parking on the pavement really infuriates me.

Stop parking your car on the pavement
I was in Christchurch the other day, walking up a side road pushing my nine-month-old son in his pram and a car just pulled up in front of me on the pavement blocking my path. I knocked on the drivers window, pointed out I couldn't get past and received a look of total ignorance in return. I was hopping mad and my wife had to hold me back, as the driver trotted across the road to the shop opposite. We ended up having to walk out into the road just to get past his car.
OK, so this driver was especially ignorant and stupid, but the point remains – roads are for cars, not pavements. Parents with children have to squeeze past, or go around you're illegally parked car and that's without mentioning how you expect the elderly to negotiate your automobile.
Next time this happens to me I'm going to force the pram past the car regardless of the damage it causes to your precocious motor vehicle.
