"With the recent horse meat scandal, Tesco isn't the most popular of companies - and I wanted to show that we don't need or want a store opening here.
"I can't believe so many people were willing to shut their businesses to show their support."
Over 200 people marched through Sherborne to show their anger at Tesco's plans to open a store on the site of The Sherborne Hotel.
An exit poll conducted by 'Keep Sherborne Viable' at yesterday's consultation revealed that 88 per cent of 753 people asked were against the plans.
