PHOTOS: Double celebration for Emmanuel Middle School
EMMANUEL Middle School in Verwood has had two reasons to celebrate recently - they opened the new shared use sports hall and held an open evening to celebrate their silver anniversary.
The day’s events started with the official opening of the Verwood community sports hall by The Rt Rev Nicholas Holtam, Bishop of Salisbury, who was joined by Mrs Jill Watson, headteacher, Councillor Malcolm Birr, chairman of East Dorset District Council and Steve Fletcher club ambassador of AFC Bournemouth.
Councillor Malcolm Birr, said: "It's very pleasing to see this splendid new sports centre completing the trio of sport and fitness facilities which have been provided for Verwood this year. We've already seen how successful the all-weather sports pitch at Potterne Park and the Lifestyle Active gym extension at Verwood Hub have been. This centre is sure to be widely used by both the school and members of the public and I'd like to thank everyone involved in the management and construction of the project."
Mrs Jill Watson, headteacher added: “This fabulous new facility will bring many new opportunities for both the children at Emmanuel and the community of Verwood and we look forward to working with VALA in its development. The hall has been funded mainly by the Diocese of Salisbury and East Dorset District Council with additional contributions from The Talbot Trust and Garfield Weston.”
