"The line-up for the evening celebration is looking very exciting and I am sure it is going to be a night to remember."

The Torch will leave Weymouth the following morning (July 13) and make its way through the Isle of Purbeck before arriving in Swanage at around 12.30pm. The next leg of the historic journey will see the Torch carried across Poole's Twin Sails Bridge and reach the town after 3pm.

Cllr Judy Butt, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Public Engagement and Participation for the Borough of Poole, said: "It is so exciting for our residents to be able to enjoy the Olympic Flame coming to Poole. London 2012 promises to be spectacular and for Poole to be part of it is fantastic.

"I would encourage as many people as possible to come out on Friday July 13 and welcome the Olympic Torch Relay and inspirational torchbearers to their community."

Torchbearers will then carry the flame into Bournemouth, with evening celebrations being held at Bournemouth Pier. Tickets for the events are available from 9am tomorrow morning and are free of charge.

Bournemouth Council Leader Cllr John Beesley said: "The evening celebration to welcome the Olympic Torch will be a spectacular night to remember. I'm sure the event will provide a very exciting end to a very special day and I anticipate the tickets will go fast.

"This is a once in a lifetime experience to be part of the event so get your ticket to be part of it."

The Torch will visit Christchurch on the morning of Saturday July 14, before leaving Dorset through the New Forest and into Hampshire.
