Olympic Deckchairs to light up Dorset seafront
Weymouth Esplanade will be decorated by 500 deckchairs designed by locals to celebrate the London Olympics coming to the Dorset town.
Over 400 residents took part in the Olympic Deckchairs project which will be launched on Friday June 29 at the Weymouth Pavilion end of the beach, with the public able to view the chairs between 3pm and 8pm.

Locally created deckchairs will light up Weymouth Esplanade during the Olympics (Olympic Deckchair Project)
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council Management Committee Chairman Cllr Michael Goodman, said: "This project was a fantastic opportunity for local community groups, schools and individuals to create a piece of public art that will be a legacy from the Games this summer.
"Each design celebrates Weymouth and will transform the seafront. The deckchairs are something that everyone can enjoy and I would like to thank all the local people who took part in the project for coming up with such innovative ideas and designs."

Three artists worked on the project with community groups, schools and held family workshops at Weymouth College. Thousands of images were created, before the artists chose 150 to print in three different colours based on the Jurassic coast, seaside activities and the town's seafront architecture.
One resident who took part, Lyn Kirkland from Portland said: "I was really excited about being involved in the project. I am thrilled that my work will be available for people to see and enjoy along the seafront and will be part of the Olympic legacy.
"I can't wait to show my family and friends my designs."
The project was part of the 2012 Public Art Commissioning Programme, funded by the Arts Council England South West. It makes up part of the Weymouth Seafront Regeneration Project.
Phil Gibby. Arts Council England's Director for the South West, said: "Thousands of people who come to Weymouth and Portland this summer will enjoy seeing and using these deckchairs. This project gave people in Weymouth and Portland the opportunity to work with artists to create something fun and special.
"I'm sure that those people will feel very proud when they can see how their work is appreciated by local people and visitors to the area.
"We want everyone to be able to enjoy cultural experiences, and this project has drawn in many people who might not otherwise take part in the arts."
From Saturday June 30, the deckchairs will be available to sit on along Weymouth Esplanade from 10am until 5pm, dependent on the weather. They will be used over the summer period and will cost £2 a day to hire.
