One of the most persistent ‘Occupy’ camps in the world has finally packed up its tents after 11 months.

Activists from Occupy Bournemouth, which formed in October last year, said it was “with sadness” its Priory Road camp was coming to an end.

The Dorset group said a “lack of on-the-ground support” was the reason for its closure.

The council said evicting Occupy from various sites, including the town hall, had cost taxpayers almost £10,000.
