O'Brien and Clay to return?
ROY O'Brien and Danny Clay are mulling over offers to return to Dorchester Town this weekend.
The pair spoke to chairman Eddie Mitchell before yesterday's 4-0 home defeat to Eastleigh where the Poole-based property developer apologised for both players' release from the club.
If he agrees to return to the Jewson Stadium, O'Brien would form part of a four-man managerial team with Gareth Stewart, Mark Jermyn and Kevin Hill.
Of the other players released from the club in the run-up to the clash with the Spitfires, following Shaun Brooks' resignation as manager, Nathan Peprah-Annan agreed play his last match in Town colours while Patrece Liburd is still in negotiations about his departure.
Wes Fogden is set to join Havant & Waterlooville tomorrow (2 February) and made his last appearance as a substitute.
Jermyn expressed his wish for O’Brien and Clay to return to the fold.
He said: "It depends on how they feel but it is quite something to go from one day being told you are sacked to the next day being told you are wanted. It is hard to get your head around but I would be delighted if they came back."
Jermyn, with the club's two other senior players, took temporary charge for the defeat against the Spitfires after proposed caretaker, Brooks' former coach, John Donoghue left the club less than 24 hours before Saturday’s match.
“I have been the voice in the changing room as requested by Hilly and Gareth (Stewart),” said Jermyn after the game. “He (Mitchell) has said he wants us in charge until the end of the season but that could change on Monday.
“At the moment I do not know who is going to be here on Tuesday (for training), it is just a case of coming in and seeing what we have got. But with the experience we do have, hopefully we can pull it together and get in shape for the next game.”
