Nursery pupils learn about bugs
PAMPHILL Preschool Nursery has a community allotment on the Kingston Lacy Estate and recently pupils were invited by Jo Edmond from the estate to come along to build a 'bug hotel'.
Katie Daly, co-chairman of Pamphill Preschool Nursery committee said: "We didn't know what to expect but the children, aged two to four, really had the most wonderful morning building various homes and shelters for minibeasts, bugs and even hedgehogs."
The children also tied up bundles of twigs, potted lavender and creeping ivy plants, collected fir cones and cut up bamboo to help create lots of different environments for the different creatures.
"We even got to feed the chickens their breakfast, one of the things to do on the National Trust list before you are 11 and three-quarters," added Katie.
