PLANS for 50 family Council houses at Duck Lane, Kinson have been submitted.

The scheme would see a mix of two, three and four-bedroom good quality family homes for rent, built on former playing fields adjacent to Duck Lane. The plans also detail a new community use building, two acres of landscaped areas, cycle routes and skateboard park.

Councillor Robert Lawton, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "Providing more affordable homes in Bournemouth is a top priority. If given the go-ahead, this will be the largest house build developed by the Council since the 1980s and it will provide much-needed family accommodation for those residents currently on the Housing Register."

The scheme will cost approximately £6.5million paid for by investment from the Homes and Communities Agency, prudential borrowing and other grants. If planning permission is granted, work would start on site in late summer 2013.
