New club to get Blandford job seekers on right track
A CLUB to help job seekers in Blandford find and apply for employment opportunities was opened by town mayor Sarah Loch last Friday.
Blandford Job Club has been developed by David Walsh, North Dorset District Council's portfolio holder for Development, who previously helped set up and co-ordinate the Gillingham Job Club.
He said: "The aim is to help local people find local work. Job seekers are offered encouragement, support and practical help and, importantly, it will be open to everyone regardless of age or work background."
Run by skilled volunteers, the club will open every Friday between 10am and 1pm and can be found in the Treads building, through the archway in the Market Place to the Blandford Museum.

It will follow the very successful model used by Mr Walsh in Gillingham which has created work placements for 68 people in just over 18 months.
David and his team have also been acting as consultants and advisors to councils in Wiltshire and Somerset and have helped them to set up their own clubs.
