New Salvation Army officers in Verwood come for Georgia
VERWOOD Salvation Army have welcomed new Commanding Officers to their Corps.
Captains Gia & Eka Salarishvili have been seconded from The Salvation Army in Georgia to the UK Territory for added experience. They have two teenage daughters Katy and Mary.
They have been in the UK for four years and so far they have had appointments to the Southampton Scholing Corps then to the Southern Division HQ.
The Salvation Army began to operate in Georgia when The Soviet Union withdrew its presence in the early 1990s to help the many people left in need. This work was headed up by Salvation Army Officers from the United States.

There was an extensive feeding programme to start with but this country has, over the years since then, become able to better support itself.
Moving from Southampton to Verwood has required a significant domestic change for Gia and Eka and equally so for Katy and Mary who will now continue their education locally.
