Message from the mayor
IT has been a very busy month and I was delighted to cut the ribbon to celebrate the launch of TSB, the anniversary and new ownership of Topsie Rabbit Kindergarten, the expansion of Netplay into their new premises (formerly Tudor Newsagents), and the opening of the extended museum.
I was also invited to the 20th anniversary celebration of the Library, and the launch of the Methodist Church Community Cinema. It's really heart-warming to see so much activity going on - the town is positively buzzing!
Of course the carnival was a big occasion for all of us. I particularly enjoyed the afternoon procession which is mostly made up of local groups and families. Everyone had worked so hard on their costumes and I am amazed at some of the novel ideas that people come up with.
We were blessed with glorious sunshine which ensured that the outfits weren't ruined and we had an increased turnout from the townsfolk.

Coming up next weekend is the Christian Aid fundraising abseil down the tower of St Mary's Church which I have been asked to officially open. Fortunately I am not required to get over the edge myself! I am also very much looking forward to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal concert.
Remembrance Day on 10th starts my civic duties for November and I truly hope that the town will turn out to mark this most solemn and important day of the year. Lest we forget….
With all best wishes
