Memorial concert raises funds for cancer care

A CELTIC music concert held at the Allendale Centre recently raised the impressive sum of £5060 for Macmillan Cancer Care.

The concert, which was a sellout, was in memory of Rose Harman, who together with her husband Adrian promoted Irish and Celtic bands in Wimborne for ten years under the name of Celticfolk. Sadly Rose died of breast cancer in June 2011.

Adrian, who organised the concert said: "Musicians travelled form Norway, Shannon, Belfast, Derby, Manchester and Devon. Not one of them would accept a penny for travelling expenses let alone a fee for the night.

"The sound crew came in the middle of an extensive tour, as they had a free night, also at no fee and the Allendale Centre let us use the hall free of charge.

"The evening was a great success and I have had many e-mails and messages saying what a wonderful time people had.

Adrian added that he has set up a Just Giving page for people who couldn't come to the concert to donate if they wanted to.
